Today's Catch

Pat and I went out this morning and this was our catch.  One Jack, three Blue Claw Crabs and one floating chair.  You can tell from this picture why they are called Blue Claws.

Jamaica Bay Striper

I was not able to fish the Jamaica Bay tournament in NY this weekend, but I did a little recon for the boys yesterday morning in the areas that will be fished. I found a small school of bunker getting crashed by big bass and spent the next 2 hours landing about 10 bass from 38" to 43". On the way in I stopped at a few more schools and landed a few more. I hope the gang finds them chewing this weekend!

6TH Annual Hammer Point Dolphin Derby

The 6th annual Hammer Point Dolphin Derby was held on May 18th.
There were 15 boats entered.  The weather was great and so was the weigh-in party.

HAMMER POINT SHARK

This 9 foot shark was cruising the Hammer Point canals the other day.  Some people say it is a Lemon shark, I think it looks like a Bull Shark

Captain Dave Perkins just back from Italy wasted no time getting out with his faithful dog Lola and caught this huge Permit.

Dave it was ok but we had to go 34 miles out looking for the birds.
We got 3 Cows the large one was 31 lbs 2 queen snappers the larger one 12 lbs and a small tile fish. The queens and the tile were deep droping 710 feet.

Dave, thanks for publishing the picture oif my fishing trip, but I think the Queen Snapper is a very unusual fish because it is caught in very deep waters and is not known by too many people. Did you know about it?

REDFISH

Pat caught a 19 inch Redfish this morning and released it unharmed.  We were drifting along the mangroves and spotted it.

Ray and I have fished for Grouper three days in a row and caught a few, but no keepers.
Today we decided to take the girls with us and they brought us good luck.  We got two keepers, ten pounds each and a few small ones.  By the way, today is Judy's birthday.
