I went backcountry alone this morning and caught a few Red Fish. I released them all except one that swallowed my plug.
I saw a Saw Fish swimming along side my boat for about 100 yards then later on I saw what I thought was a Red Fish in the mud and threw a plug to it and started to reel in and it was another Saw Fish that I snagged. Luckily it came loose and swam off.
Hi Capt. Keysmon.I just commented on another entry of yours where you encountered sawfish. But to introduce my self again; I am the manager of the International Sawfish Encounter Database at the Florida Program for Shark Research. It would be much appreciated if you could fill out encounter reports online for these sawfish that you observed. People are lucky to encounter even 1 sawfish in their lifetimes and you seem to attract them! You can reach the reporting form at http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/fish/sharks/sawfish/form.html or email me at cmcgarigal@flmnh.ufl.edu or by reach me by phone 352-273-1978 if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks for you help! Cheers,
